Visit Your Local Library in September to Win Children's Books

Ready 2 Learn is sponsoring prize packs for families that use their library cards during the month of September. There will be 10 prize packs total—each prize pack contains new children's books, learning games and a $50 deposit into an Oregon College Savings Plan account (account must be opened by cardholder).

How do you enter? When you use your Ready 2 Learn card to check out a book OR attend a library program anytime during September, your card is scanned and you are entered to win. The drawing takes place October 1 and winners will be announced on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/readytolearnoregon. Limit one entry per cardholder and one prize pack per family. If you don’t have a Ready 2 Learn card, you can visit your local library and sign up for one for free.

Employees Honored at IMESD In-Service

In late August, the IMESD held its annual In-Service for its employees. More than 200 employees gathered at the Pendleton Convention Center to kick off the school year to the theme of “One Person Can Make a Difference.”

The morning began with a welcome from Dr. Mark Mulvihill, IMESD Superintendent. He was followed by representatives of the Classified and Licensed employee associations and Kathy Neal, Chair of the IMESD Board of Directors, welcoming all staff to the 2015-2016 school year.

The training will be conducted by Derek Brown, ODE Interim Assistant Superintendent, and Holly Carter, ODE Interim Director of Assessment.

IMESD Provides Free Hearing Screenings to Students This Fall

The IMESD will provide free hearing screenings to public elementary school students at area schools this fall.

Hearing screenings are conducted annually by the IMESD’s Audiology Department for public school students in Umatilla, Morrow and Union counties. The program is cooperatively sponsored by 18 regional school districts.
