Serve as the receptionist and initial point of contact for visitors at Joseph Building facility.  Provide clerical support to Joseph Building staff.  This position is year round, with lighter work schedule in the summer.



  • Maintain building security by monitoring visitor access, maintaining security awareness, issue visitor passes where required and be aware of and report suspicious activity

  • Greet connecting or directing them to the appropriate person or location

  • Answer incoming phone calls in a timely and polite manner, screening and directing calls to appropriate persons.When necessary, take and deliver messages.

  • Answer questions, providing correct information or directing the inquiry to the appropriate person

  • Provide support to IMESD Joseph Building staff by requesting documents; sending, receiving and delivering faxes; copying; proofreading; entering information into the child database system; creating materials, etc.

  • Manage mail and deliveries, sorting and delivering to the correct person or location

  • Prepare outgoing mail for pick-up or courier

  • Monitor, control and order office supplies and forms

  • Maintain office equipment and report any malfunctions

  • Maintain a safe and clean reception and office area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Willing to cross train for other jobs to provided support if/when needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and staff

  • Follow IMESD policies and procedures

  • Represent IMESD in an ethical and professional manner

  • Possess good writing and editing skills, using correct grammar and spelling

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds



  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Experience as a Receptionist or Administrative Assistant and/or successful training in this area

  • Exceptional customer service skills and professional phone manner

  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing documents, databases, etc.


May occasionally be required to travel away from home on overnight assignments.  Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to other sites in Umatilla/Morrow counties.

Salary and benefits to be established in accordance with the IMESD Classified Association negotiated agreement with the IMESD Board of Directors. Schedule and assignments to be established by Department Director.
