IMESD’s Michael Lasher to become Douglas ESD interim superintendent

Michael Lasher, deputy superintendent of the InterMountain Education Service District, will become interim superintendent of the Douglas ESD in Roseburg, Ore., starting July 1.

Lasher has worked for the IMESD in Pendleton for 17 years.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for me that I’m looking forward to, but I’ll miss my colleagues at IMESD while I’m in Roseburg,” Lasher said.

Lasher was the director of the information technology department when he first arrived at IMESD. After 10 years, he then moved up into an administrative role as Chief Operations Officer, and then as Deputy Superintendent when the former Umatilla-Morrow ESD became IMESD in 2011. During his time at the ESD, Lasher also began the entrepreneurial leg of IMESD, called InterMountain Initiatives, that has grown significantly over the past 15 years.

Lasher has also served as the Executive Director of the Oregon Small Schools Association for the past two years.

"For many years, Michael has been viewed around the region and state as an innovative educational leader," said Dr. Mark Mulvihill, IMESD superintendent. "I am very pleased he will be given this opportunity at Douglas ESD."
