Workshop to help ensure civil rights compliance in schools

School district administrators, human resources and curriculum staff are encouraged to attend a workshop March 18 to learn  more about complying with civil rights guidelines in schools and how to maintain safe schools. This workshop, sponsored by the IMESD, will be led by Kendra Hughes, who is certified in Homeland Security Crisis Response Management for Rural Schools. Hughes will help define terms and laws, and identify elements of effective policies that will protect students and staff against harassment, bullying, cyberbullying and retaliation in rural, urban and suburban schools. She will also provide an overview of the Office for Civil Rights expectations and provide samples of exemplar school district policies.
