State, local education leaders to gather for 3rd annual Eastern Oregon Executive Summit
Regional and statewide education leaders will converge for the 3rd annual Eastern Oregon Executive Summit July 25-26, sponsored by the InterMountain Education Service District (IMESD) in Pendleton. State Superintendent of Schools Susan Castillo is expected to make the trip to the east side of the state to speak at the Summit, as are several other statewide education leaders.
The two-day event will bring together approximately 20 regional school chiefs from 14 school districts, and representatives and leaders from the Oregon Legislature, Oregon Department of Education, Confederation of Oregon School Administrators, Oregon School Boards Association, Oregon Association of Education Service Districts, and Oregon School Activities Association.
“This is probably one of my most enjoyable events that we put on during the year, simply because of the networking opportunities,” said IMESD Superintendent Dr. Mark Mulvihill. “It’s the one time of year our government leaders in education come together to network and work with our local leaders. We always look forward to bringing over our colleagues from Salem, and it’s a great way for our local school leaders to kick off the new school year.”
Executive Summit participants will learn about the most current information on statewide educational issues – including the political climate from Senator David Nelson – as well as assessment information, regional professional development opportunities, hot topics in education law and an update from OSAA.
