Children's Rodeo Serves Up Fun and Smiles

girl and cowboy in arena

It was a great day in the Pendleton Round-Up Arena for almost 50 students who participated in the Annual Children's Rodeo on Thursday, September 13. Sponsored by the IMESD and the Pendleton Round-Up, this event provides children with special needs ages 5 through 10 years the opportunity to be cowboys and cowgirls inside the famous rodeo location. This marked 34 years for the event.

Rodeo contestants participate in a variety of western-themed events, such as horseback riding, pretend bull riding, barrel racing on stick ponies, milking a cow, stagecoach rides and Native American drumming. Each child receives a T-shirt, cowboy hat, lariat, scarf, trophy and a photo with their cowboy volunteer.

The IMESD thanks the dozens of staff and volunteers, including PRCA and local cowboys and cowgirls, Round-Up volunteers and community members, for making the 2018 Chidlren's Rodeo a great success!
