ODE Approved Dyslexia Training Session #2 of 3

InterMountain ESD will be hosting Dyslexia training opportunities November 28th, December 4th, and January 30th for the required certificates. 

You must complete all three sessions to receive the full certificate from ODE.  

Dr. Smith will be the on-site facilitator and host during each of the three sessions.

November 28th - 9:00 to 3:30 – ESD Pendleton – Session I

Session one will be on Understanding Dyslexia from the 95% Group. We will gain an understanding of Dyslexia and the legislations and history of dyslexia in Oregon. We will address the nine critical components to understanding and recognizing dyslexia in students. During this session the participant will experience and gain a general understanding of Dyslexia in the classroom and complete the online requirements to obtain the certificate for Part I. Lunch will be provided.

 

December 4th – 9:00 to 3:30 – ESD Pendleton – Session 2

Session two will be an interactive time gaining understanding of we will gain an understanding of our language structure along with the neurological understanding of how the brain processes the information. We will gain knowledge of how language develops in your children and is transferred to reading and writing skills. Participants must have completed Session I to participate. Lunch will be provided.

 

January 30th – 9:00 to 3:30 – ESD Pendleton - Session 3

Session three will be a live-stream with Barbara Steinberg. She will be covering understand and applying assessment for instruction, accommodations and differentiated instruction, and small group instruction. Must have completed Session I & 2 to participate. Lunch will be provided.

 

Cost for ALL THREE trainings is $535 per participant 

Please being a laptop or chromebook with you to the training.  Lunch will be provided.  

You only need to fill in the registration form ONE time to register for all three sessions.

A repeat series will be offered in the Spring:  March 6, 2018, April 10, 2018, and April 24, 2018 (possible change of this date) Registration and more information will be coming out in January. 

If you have a completion certificate for one of the three sessions from a previous training, please email Dr. Smith and let him know which of the three you are still needing and the cost will be adjusted as needed.
