As part of National CTE Month in February, IMESD is highlighting educators who work in Career Technical Education in Eastern Oregon school districts.
Meet Douglas Gisi, CTE Teacher at La Grande High School in the La Grande School District.
What do you teach? I teach Welding/Fabrication and CAD (Computer-Aided Design). They go hand in hand to elevate the complexity and craftsmanship of what our students can produce.
What is your school’s CTE focus for the 23-24 school year? Precision measurement and industrial math is a focus of ours here at LHS.
How is CTE work in your school making a difference for students? We are preparing students to be successful in the workforce. They learn the technical skills that can earn them a healthy income as well as the soft skills that will make them an asset to the community.
What is something people may not know about CTE in schools? At LHS we have very nice, well-equipped facilities that offer a multitude of learning opportunities. It is my pleasure to introduce this genre of work for the students' career consideration.
