IMESD is pleased to congratulate the agency's four 2024 Crystal Apple Award Winners. They were honored at the ceremony on May 14th. The Crystal Apple "Excellence in Education" awards are presented each year to employees who exhibit excellence in their work to serve students in our component school districts.
The first Crystal Apple winner for IMESD is Margaret Anderson.
Margaret is an Autism Consultant in the Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program. She has worked for IMESD for 14 years. Margaret successfully wears many hats and is a wonderful team member. She excels in providing necessary and appropriate materials for children and their families. Margaret uses familyfriendly terms and explanations on what is sometimes a family’s hardest day of hearing their child meets the criteria to receive autism services. Margaret has a contagious laugh that is known by many. One of her colleagues said, “Her love, joy and ability to work as part of a team is always appreciated. It has been a pleasure to work alongside Margaret for the benefit of a child and their family.”
IMESD’s second winner is Katherine Calvert.
Katherine is an Educational Assistant in the Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program. She has worked for eight years at IMESD. Well organized and creative, Kathy is a valuable team member. She has a strong foundation of working with students who have concerns with behaviors and require trauma-informed care, facilitating collaborative problem solving. Kathy continues to further her training and education, recently earning her emergency teaching license so she can step in as lead teacher when necessary. She has mentored new assistants as they begin their work experience by encouraging them to try their best and supporting IMESD policies and procedures.
The third Crystal Apple Winner for IMESD is Terri Carr.
Terri is a Financial Specialist in the Business Department and has worked for IMESD for nine years. Terri is always willing to do more in her job and for her co-workers. If there is something an employee doesn’t understand, she is more than willing to help and explain, offering ideas on how to make a task easier. Although she processes a large amount of financial paperwork each month, Terri will always make time to answer questions about purchase orders, invoice processing, account coding and more. She is supportive of the agency’s administrative assistants, always looking for ways to increase efficiency. “IMESD is very lucky to have such a dedicated and caring employee like Terri!”
The final winner for InterMountain ESD is Ian Shadle.
Ian is a Systems Engineer in the IT Department at IMESD, where he has worked for seven years. In the complicated and changing world of Information Technology, Ian goes above and beyond. Always there to lend a helping hand, he has a ready smile and is a pleasure to work with. Ian worked tirelessly setting up all the necessary systems for IMESD to deploy Single SignOn and Multi-Factor Authentication, which made staff and student account login simpler and more secure. This project was a heavy lift, but Ian ensured he was available for support through every step of the deployment process.
