IMESD’s new Library Media Specialist, Christie Boen, and Dave Williams, Director of School Improvement have researched and advocated for the IMESD to invest $100,000 into the new implementation of Sora - the student reading app for our School Districts.
The Sora reading app gives K-12 students one-tap access to ebooks, audiobooks, Read-Alongs, magazines, and more on any device, at any time, using their school credentials. It's even possible to have titles assigned to students if needed. Once titles are checked out, they begin downloading immediately so that they can be read or listened to offline. This is a great feature for those bus rides, car trips, camping, etc.
Sora includes features that remove barriers to reading. Whether your students are reading for class or for fun, Sora offers a suite of features to make books more accessible and enjoyable.
Simple single sign-on access (provided by your school district)
Age-appropriate books to engage diverse populations
Digital Class Sets provide 1:1 access to books
Personalization and annotation tools
Ability to have public library access through Public Library CONNECT
