More than 300 educators from eastern Oregon attended the Professional Development Summit 2022 on Friday, October 14th on Oregon’s state In-Service Day. The event was organized by IMESD and the Oregon Trail Regional Educator Network (REN) in collaboration with the Pendleton School District.
The Summit was held at Sunridge Middle School in Pendleton and offered 80 sessions targeted for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)/Behavior Supports, Administrators, Elementary and Secondary teachers, Specialty, CTE and Technology. The sessions were led by 39 regional educators/IMESD staff and six community presenters.
“We wanted to ensure that our regional educators and attendees were able to attend sessions that aligned with their needs right now,” said Dave Williams, IMESD Director of School Improvement. “Feedback from the event has been positive. At the end of the day, educators left the summit with information they can implement in their classrooms to help support student growth in all areas.”
The keynote speaker, Joy Kelly, presented “Handle with Care: Managing Difficult Situations in Schools with Dignity and Respect,” which emphasized ways educators can improve school culture.
