Amy Martin, a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for IMESD, was recently elected Chairman of Oregon’s Board of Examiners (BOE) for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
The Board regulates the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology in the state. Martin has served on the BOE as a board member and vice-chair for two years and represents the school-based speech-Language pathologists.
Martin said during her time on the board, “I hope to lead the Board of Examiners well, while protecting the clientele and consumers of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and preserving our profession across the state.”
Tonya Smith, IMESD Director of Regional, Related and Speech Services, said having representation on the BOE from a professional in Eastern Oregon is pretty exciting. “We are very proud of her,” Smith said.
Martin has worked as an SLP for 13 years, three years in Nevada and since then at IMESD.
