Nearly 400 Christmas food boxes are helping local families make their holiday dinners this year. "The Christmas food boxes, spearheaded by the Milton-Freewater Ministerial Association, has been a community tradition for longer than anyone can remember and involves churches, service organizations, Safeway, local businesses, schools and individual volunteers, according to the association."
One of the organizers, Rachel Giger, noted her thanks to the local schools: "The schools are always a huge source of donations." The classes who bring in the most donations are offered a pizza party, she added "It get gets very competitive!"
